Unit 2 Topic

When I first started brainstorming to choose my topic I came up with was taxes. And then I narrowed it down to which different economic groups of people are affected and how they are affected with our current tax policies compared with each of the presidential candidates proposed tax policies. I then narrowed it down to the general overall effect that Obama's proposed tax plans will have on each economic group, who will benefit from it and who will suffer from it and how it is different compared with how taxes are today. Generally anyone who pays taxes has experience with this issue. Since I do not pay taxes yet, I figured this would serve well as a neutral topic for me. Even though not everyone pays taxes, in general everyone will still be impacted by it, for example, even though I do not pay taxes it will still affect me since my both my parents taxes are basically going to skyrocket if Obama is elected, I will probably have to end up taking out student loans for my education that I will have to pay off later, so it will affect me. I am sure there are thousands of other college students with my situation. This is an issue that everyone is talking about, but the main people concerned are those with incomes who pay taxes, so mainly people in their late twenties and older. I am sure that the news and media will be a great source for this.

This is a really interesting topic. I'm also in the section where my parents' taxes will be raised and they are very upset about it. I don't understand how Obama wants to lower so many people's taxes yet also spend billions of dollars on different programs, while also increasing jobs. I'm sure you'll be able to find a lot of information on this topic.

Ashley,
Hey, I hope your rhetorical analysis are going well. Our topic were virtually the same so I was curious how you decided to approach yours? We talked about providing details for one candidate's tax plan or, instead, evidence for both candidates tax plan at once. I decided to provide information on Obama's tax plan and then find an article with McCain's opposing plan; it worked for me. Hope you figured everything out. Good luck.

I'm really interested in your topic, and the information that you happen to find and are able to analyze. I just want to make sure that you are careful not to let what may happen with raised taxes affect your paper, but I'm sure you will be fine. I hope your research and prewriting go well!
